International House campus and apartment buildings at night, UC San Diego

Note for International House
residency in 2021–22

All residency in I-House for the 2021–22 academic year will be based on campuswide on-housing eligibility ONLY.  Once you have been notified by the university that you are eligible to live on campus, as part of the contracting process you will be invited to apply to living-learning communities such as International House. As applications are received by the host college for I-House, Eleanor Roosevelt College (ERC) will review applications and make decisions based on the responses. If an application is not accepted, students will have the opportunity to sign up on the Undergraduate Housing Waitlist later this summer. Please note there is limited on-campus space outside of I-House, so you are encouraged to continue exploring other housing options as well.

Any questions regarding whether you meet the criteria for on-campus eligibility for I-House should be directed to or Make sure to include your name and PID in any correspondence.

International House at UC San Diego is a friendly and diverse community of internationally minded students and scholars.

All registered UC San Diego undergraduate students except new incoming freshman or current freshmen are eligible to live in I-House. Living in I-House is preceded by a simple application process, and applications are accepted on a rolling basis for various quarters.

About 350 people from over 30 countries choose to make I-House their home each year. Residents (approximately half American and half international) include undergraduates from all seven colleges, graduate students, and visiting scholars. Students, faculty, staff and community friends are all welcome to participate in our programs.
