Sponsored by international service organization Rotary International, Rotaract is a service club for young men and women ages 18-30. Modeled after similar goals and standards to those of Rotary, Rotaract brings together college students and young business professionals for the purpose of humanitarian service, networking, building goodwill and promoting peace in the world.
Rotaract at UCSD is sponsored by the La Jolla Golden Triangle Rotary club. Rotaract has a code of conduct taken from Rotary International called the Four Way Test. Rotaract at UCSD achieves the four focuses through weekly meetings that include professional development workshops and guest speakers from various programs and vocations that coincide with Rotary and its humanitarian causes.
Rotaract at UCSD participates in community service on the international scale via the Karma Koins program, donations gathered from its members sent to a different charity each year. Rotaract at UCSD also makes WAPI's which are water pasteurization indicators which are sent to developing nations to increase access to clean water. Rotaract at UCSD also serves the local community through weekly service events held throughout San Diego.
Like Rotary, Rotaract clubs meet on a regular basis, and are nonpolitical, nonreligious and open to anyone interested. Rotaract at UCSD meets once a week on Tuesdays at 7 pm. Find out more through its website http://rotaract.ucsd.edu/ or Facebook page: Rotaract at UCSD.
