PROSPECT is an international affairs journal at the University of California, San Diego.
This online journal serves as a forum for intelligent discourse by showcasing works created by students who wish to broaden their understanding of issues of contemporary and global relevance. Placing ourselves at the intersection of policy and the arts, we believe that together we can better understand current affairs from a variety of vantage points.
PROSPECT shares works to inspire critical thought and action. The essays analyze issues and prescribe solutions to problems around the world in a thought provoking manner. Visually-arresting art pieces convey a multitude of perspectives by representing themes that make policies memorable. Travelogues and photo essays allow first-hand exposure to locales that may seem distant, but have a lasting influence on domestic policies. Lastly, the professor and scholar interviews offer insight and context for international issues.

In coordination with Thurgood Marshall College and the Helen Edison Lecture Series, PROSPECT had the honor of interviewing two-time Pulitzer Prize winner and The New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof. Through his latest book, Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, he hopes to recruit followers to join his movement to emancipate women and fight global poverty by unlocking the power of women as economic catalysts.
